A gathering in recognition of the benefits of hemp and medical cannabis, Springfield’s inaugural Hemp Fest is set to take place September 3rd 2011. Over 5,000 free-thinkers from across the Midwest are expected to attend the festival, which organizers hope will grow into an annual event.
The first Hemp Fest will feature day-long entertainment from 15 reggae, rock and hip-hop bands and world-class DJs, as well as food, drinks and shopping tents. “We have some great live performances scheduled.
Ozarks municipalities spend far too much money on the war on drugs. A large percentage of this effort is enforcement on marijuana. “After all we are talking about a plant. A plant that has many medicinal, agricultural, and cultural benefits, medicinally it’s know to eradicate cancer from mice, and make cancer patients feel better amongst many other medical benefits. Culturally we could use hemp as an energy source and bio fuel relieving the country form our need of foreign oil. These are just a couple of a long list reasons for the event.“ stated by event officials.
Hemp Fest is the time to come together and celebrate the advantages of and many uses for the marijuana plant. The festival’s goal is to raise awareness for the many uses of hemp, which is legal, and medical marijuana, which is legal in 14 states, has more uses than just recreational drug use.
